Responsibilities

Global Commodity Manager within the Supply Chain organization at Masonite reporting to the Global Sourcing Team Leader for Chemicals & Metals. The candidate will have primary accountability managing all activities for assigned products and services within the Plastic and Metal Components.  The Global Commodity Manager’s primary objective will be to establish and execute a global sourcing strategy to achieve the business objectives and goals. The Global Commodity Manager will be expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of best sourcing management techniques, practices and strategies, including: strategic sourcing; fact-based negotiation; supply market analysis; supplier relationship development; and global sourcing/LCCS, optimizing total cost and total value of the assigned products and services for Masonite. The Global Commodity Manager will work closely with internal Masonite customers and stakeholders to understand their business needs/objectives, material/category requirements and broader manufacturing processes. 

  • Act as global supply management leader for assigned commodities. Initiate supplier identification, assessment, selection, and development processes. Develop and execute commodity sourcing strategies to meet customer and business unit objectives.
  • Lead cross functional teams and manage supply chain goals improving value-to-cost relationship by focusing on total cost of ownership, quality, delivery, service and working capital (DPO/inventory)
  • Lead all commercial negotiations with commodity supply partners
  • Proactively manage supplier base ensuring supply with no adverse impact on the business. Analyze, identify and understand supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate
  • Utilize formal benchmarking methods to determine best in class processes and drive improvement maintaining at the forefront of emerging industry practices
  • Measure and track supply performance within assigned commodities. Resolves and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Effectively communicate with appropriate management levels both internally and externally 
  • Project scoping – Assess the scope of cost reduction projects, resources required, potential savings, risks and assumptions and implementation plan
  • Project management – Lead, guide and coach cross-functional team members through the implementation of global cost reduction projects. Prepare and communicate material for project gate review sign-off meetings
  • Conduct business dealings with the highest level of integrity and regard for legal and environmental issues
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change
Qualifications
  • BS Required. Chemical or Mechanical Engineer desired.
  • Minimum 6+ years of Global Sourcing Category/Commodity Management experience
  • Experience working for North American multinational environment due to Global Sourcing responsibilities
  • Desired minimum 2+ years’ experience in the Door Industry
  • Global Commodity Management experience with Plastic Components to include Injection Molding, Adhesives, Plastic & Foam Extrusions, Cast Urethane, Laminates and/or Resin (PP, PE, PS, ABS, TPE)
  • Global Commodity Management experience with Metal Components to include stamping, plating, roll forming, extrusions and hardware
  • Direct spend category management
  • Leading Contract and Supply agreement negotiations in Asia, North American and South America
  • Leading teams and project management
  • Strategic sourcing planning and execution
  • Leading and developing people
  • Decision Making:
  • Capable of developing and executing strategic plans and objectives.
  • Select, evaluate, and develop category plan objectives in areas of cost, quality, flexibility, and service with guidance and assistance.
  • Execute prioritized tasks consistent with achieving overall supply chain organizational goals.
  • Implement sourcing decisions based on guidance and team consensus
  • Problem Solving:
  • Assess, define and resolve supply chain and procurement issues.
  • Apply root cause analysis and derive corrective actions, and assess adequacy of the analyses and plans proposed by suppliers managed.
  • Apply appropriate competitive cost benchmarks, financial analysis and risk management techniques to solve issues.
  • Able to influence peers and internal customers to achieve mutually beneficial solutions.

  • Understands and demonstrates basic project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, and to close projects on time.

  • Conducts negotiation within approved parameters and authority.
  • Documents commercial terms and drafts contract agreements and amendments.
  • Ability to modify work schedules and practices to meet job requirements; requires overnight and international travel.
  • Strong Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint skills.
  • Six Sigma training and /Greenbelt certification a definite plus
  • Project manager certification a plus
  • Fluent in English
