The centralized Materials Management function is a newly created team at Masonite. As such, the role will largely be about change management, consolidation of processes/metrics, establishing one standardized process, and building a world class materials management process and organization. The role incorporates all aspects of materials strategy development and day-to-day materials management (BOM management, part number standardization, order execution, master data management, etc).

The Director is responsible to develop strategies, processes, control and the support organization necessary to manage all aspects of materials management and flow to maintain control and accuracy over inventory.

Master Data is the core data that enables the ability to process sales orders from order receipt through shipment to customers, and is the foundation upon which sales and business analysis is performed. Therefore, timeliness, accuracy, integrity and adherence to global data standards are of utmost importance in creating and maintaining material master data. This position is responsible for creating accurate master data for all raw/finished good master data entered throughout the lifecycle of the product and ensuring that all data elements created for materials adhere to the global material master data standards.

This position will ensure maintenance of appropriate material statuses in accordance within established Service Level Agreements (SLA) and identify any missing or incorrect data elements. This position will interface with and serve as the primary contact for the business (customer service, marketing, supply chain, sales, finance, plants, etc.) on any internal and external issues pertaining to Material Master Data for the company.

  • Manage, revise, and implement one documented process for all Materials Processes (BOM accuracy, part numbers, receiving, work order execution, inventory, etc). There are currently different processes for each Division that need to be standardized.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate data creation and maintenance including:
  • Part number standardization / creation / maintenance from new product launch throughout the life cycle of the product.
  • BOM management and maintenance for new and existing products throughout the life cycle of the product.
  • Ensures all master data at each stage gate is complete before releasing to the next process.
  • Demonstrate logical understanding of how data and processes work together, especially in new launch management and end-to-end product lifecycle data management.
  • Interprets marketing/sales master data requirements into Masonite’s material master data standards and rules when creating master data for materials.
  • Develops MM staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment and developing personal growth opportunities. Accomplishes staff results by communicating job goals and expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Achieves financial objectives by establishing objectives; developing budgets; controlling costs, maximizing use of available assets and contracts. Contributes to the ongoing development of supply chain best practices across the operations network.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate and build strong team relationships with cross-functional partners and customers to drive standards and efficiency in supply chain data management of product code and BOM creation/upticks.
  • Partner with the supply chain leadership team to identify best practices regarding inventory management, warehouse management, receiving/shipping best practices, station tracking etc.
  • Systems evaluation - Identify measures or indicators of the supply chain system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) and knowledge of supply chain planning/execution concepts, manufacturing and material management functions, and financial/cost account practices. Subject areas include transaction processing, demand/supply planning, deployment planning, production planning, detailed production scheduling, transportation planning, capacity planning, material requirements planning, inventory control, purchasing, order-to-cash process, shipping & receiving and warehouse management.
  • Experience deploying materials management systems within a visual factory environment across multiple site locations.
  • Experience using material supermarkets, PFEP and Kanban replenishment systems.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing a materials management process and system, not just utilization of an existing system.
  • Experience with using/deploying digital/technology solutions within a materials management environment.
  • Past leadership experience managing Materials Management function.
  • Lean GB certification highly desired or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, materials management, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Change management leader: anticipates reactions of people to change in systems and business plans and plans accordingly. Recognizes own/teams reactions to change process; identifies early successes to maintain momentum; implements communication plan. Leads the functional team through the deployment of the ERP solution.
  • Strong teamwork, partnership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop teams. Ability to foster a common vision which supports the business goals and KPIs.
  • Ability to analyze data from various systems to get to opportunity/root cause.
  • Must be results oriented, driven to succeed, have excellent communication skills, and be self-motivated.
  • Excellent verbal, written, negotiation and organizational skills.
  • Strong prioritization, planning, reporting and organizational skills. 
  • BSBA. MBA a plus.
  • CPIM or industry certification within Supply Chain highly desired.
